Video streaming consumes substantially more data than most other services, making it a primary target for restriction on metered cellular connections or bandwidth-constrained networks. Beyond bandwidth, restricting entertainment services on corporate devices reinforces the expectation that devices are for business use, reducing workplace distractions.

Enterprise IT: Corporate IT restricts Apple TV+ on shared devices like conference room Apple TVs or lobby kiosks to prevent personal use. On employee-assigned devices, policies vary based on organizational culture—some allow streaming for downtime use, while others maintain strict business-only policies. IT often restricts all streaming services (Apple TV+, Netflix, YouTube) as a bundle rather than targeting individual services.

MSP: MSPs configure streaming restrictions based on client preferences and bandwidth constraints. Clients with limited internet capacity or strict acceptable use policies typically request blanket streaming restrictions. MSPs should apply these restrictions at the profile level to ensure consistency and prevent users from re-enabling services after deployment.

Education: Schools restrict Apple TV+ on student devices to maintain classroom focus and prevent students from streaming content during instructional time. Some schools allow streaming on student devices only outside school hours using time-based restrictions, while others block it entirely to preserve bandwidth for educational applications.
